Dotty,
What can I say about her. She's one of the two angels that God sent to encourage me throughout my college years, another being Maude.
Well, I'm going to share a conversation I had with my younger sister a couple of days ago. Being my little sister, I have often mentioned about Dotty, Maude...etc to her and how much God has blessed me with them.
My sister was having an English language exam- on speaking. So a group of candidates/ students were given a subject (and sub-topics) to discuss for 20 minutes which then, they would be evaluated. So the subject that the group my sister was in had " The greatest mother"...Under this subject, there is a list of situation which the candidate can choose and pick the greatest mother.
A. A single mother (raising a child herself)
B. A mother that gave up a successful career (just to be with her children)
C. A mother with a disabled child
D. A mother who adopts and love the children as her own
While other students in the group gave reason why should A, B, C Mothers should each be awarded the greatest mother award. My little sister chose D and defended her choice solely based on her brother's friend which is Dotty. My sister told the group, that a mother who adopts and love the children as her own flesh and blood deserved the award because her love exceed beyond conventional terms and even to others of not her own flesh and blood.
I am touched with the fact that Dotty have such a profound impact on my younger sister who doesnt know Dotty personally, have reminded me again, and how much Dotty and her family welcomed me into their home and family three years ago.
Dotty and her husband have foster a couple of children and is currently looking after a brother and his older sister.
Yeah, yeah you might said...people like Angelina Jolie have adopted many but I would like to add that Angelina Jolie adopted several kids out of her wealth. While Dotty and Brett truly adopted the kids out of love eventhough they have to work several jobs and gave up their vacation to make sure their kids are happy.
So, Dotty, thank you for being yourself! I too agree with my little sister that Dotty deserves the greatest mother award.
Thank you God, thank you Dotty.
Joshua
